Professor Paul Griffin is a leading international expert in accounting, financial information, and corporate disclosure.
He has published more than 80 articles in leading accounting and finance journals, five research monographs for the Financial Accounting Standards Board, and two case books on U.S. corporate financial reporting. His research has had a substantial impact on the profession. Griffin currently serves as an editor for Accounting Horizons.
Griffin's most recent publications focus on the consequences of and firms' responses to greenhouse gas emissions. He also investigates the impact of extreme weather events on company stock returns and firms' disclosures. His latest papers examine how spells of extreme heat and wildfires impact the financial performance and market value of the affected firms. Griffin collaborates with researchers in Asia, Europe, New Zealand, and North America. In addition to his publications, he regularly presents his work at seminars and has served as a keynote speaker at international conferences.
Griffin is also an honorary professor in the Department of Accounting and Finance at the University of Otago, New Zealand, the country’s oldest university and ranked among the world’s top universities by QS.
